Volunteer Opportunities

READ TO SUCCEED
If you enjoy working with children, the Read to Succeed program is for you.  Read to Succeed offers a variety of volunteer opportunities including:
After School Reading Tutor 
Monday and Wednesday
3:30-5:30 p.m. 
Habersham County elementary schools (as needed)

Summer Reading Program Assistant  
Help with reading, arts & crafts and field trips 
Tuesday and/or Wednesday
9 a.m.-12 p.m.
June 1 - July 30
Appletown Coin Laundry, 230 Wayside Street, Cornelia, GA (Tues.)
Herrin Community Center, 830 W. Airport Road, Cornelia, GA (Weds.) 

Habersham County Feed a Friend - VFL loans books to children and youth in the summer program. Volunteers are needed Monday through Thursday 12:30 - 1pm except the week of July 4.
 
Little Free Library Steward 
Maintain and stock Little Free Libraries in Habersham County 
Flexible days/hours twice monthly
Locations to be assigned
Book Bank Assistant 
Sort and shelve books 
Flexible days/hours

Book Bank Distributor 
Distribute books to children during scheduled evening school events

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ACQUISITION (ELA)
If you're driven to make a lasting change in someone's life the ELA program is for you; and you don't have to speak a foreign language to do it! ELA volunteer opportunities include:

Adult English Language Tutor
Help students improve English speaking and comprehension skills
VFL ELA
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Tuesday and Thursday
6pm - 8pm





Childcare Worker

LiFT University
Monday and Wednesday
4:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

Transportation

Provide transportation for LiFT University ELA students through your church or organization.  Vehicle(s) required.  Gas provided.
Mondays and Wednesdays
3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.
6:15 p.m. - 7 p.m.

GED SCHOLARSHIPS 
If you enjoy teaching and working with adults this program is for you.  GED Scholarship/Preparation volunteer opportunities include:
Adult Education Tutor
Help prepare adult students for the GED test by tutoring them in English, math, science and/or social studies
Monday-Thursday
